Bug Description

When an application is opened on 12.10 running on VMWare Player, the opened window stays inactive.
Window is unmovable, has no close, restore or minimize/maximize buttons. Rather, these buttons appear along the task bar beside window name. The window becomes active only when the minimize button on the task bar is clicked, which then becomes movable with buttons intact. The window can be closed or restored even with the buttons on the task bar. Please check the screen shots attached for clarity.

Akhila did this still occur in virtualbox or on real hardware?

No Nicholas. I didn't encounter the problem when I tried running Ubuntu 12.10 on VirtualBox.

Mhh,

there are some known issues with installing in VMWare. In the past they where Python based(transition from2.x to 3.x), but I can see this here.

@Akhila

Can you do a retest with the latest daily build and the latest VMWare. Please post the version numbers here.

Thank you in advance

This bug has the same traceback in it as bug 1044299 and likely is a duplicate of that one.
