Bug Description

Found the following problem during a install test:

Replacing files in old package strigi-daemon ...
Selecting previously deselected package libstreams-dev.
Unpacking libstreams-dev (from .../libstreams-dev_0.3.11-1ubuntu1_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libstreams-dev_0.3.11-1ubuntu1_i386.deb (--unpack):
 trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/libstreams.so', which is also in package strigi-daemon

TEST CASE:
Steps to reproduce this issue:
1) Boot Edgy, pbuilder chroot is good too
2) Install strigi-daemon
3) Set Feisty repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list and upgrade to Feisty
You will get the output above.

What version of strigi-daemon have you installed?

I cannot reproduce this problem here on current Feisty:
$ dpkg -l strigi-daemon
ii strigi-daemon 0.3.11-1ubuntu1 fast indexing and searching tool for your person
daniel@base { ~ }
$ dpkg -L strigi-daemon
/.
/usr
/usr/share
/usr/share/doc
/usr/share/doc/strigi-daemon
/usr/share/doc/strigi-daemon/TODO
/usr/share/doc/strigi-daemon/AUTHORS
/usr/share/doc/strigi-daemon/README.Debian
/usr/share/doc/strigi-daemon/copyright
/usr/share/doc/strigi-daemon/changelog.gz
/usr/share/doc/strigi-daemon/README.gz
/usr/share/doc/strigi-daemon/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/bin
/usr/bin/luceneindexer
/usr/bin/strigidaemon

/usr/lib/libstreams.so only seems to be present in libstreams-dev?!

Thanks for your reply and sorry for the lack of details in my initial report.

This problem happens on a edgy->feisty ugprade. You can easily reproduce it by installing the "strigi-*" packages in a edgy chroot and then upgrading that chroot to feisty.

Cheers,
 Michael

Debdiff for feisty-proposed should fix this bug.

Because this only occurs for Edgy -> Feisty upgrades, it doesn't need to be fixed in a more recent release.
