Bug Description

I installed the kubuntu-backports of KDE SC 4.9.

Okular is not able to save annotations internally (as claimed in KDE's release notes).

The problem seems to be the outdated poppler version. In 12.04, poppler is at 0.18, but 0.20 seems to be required?

If I install okular and poppler packages (+ some libs) from kubuntu 12.10, then this feature works perfectly.

I have no idea how complicated it would be to include a backport of poppler. However, it would enable a cool feature for kubuntu's current long term support release.

I also have found the same issue. Is it there any ppa with the backported poppler?

The problem is, that the backported packages are built against the old version of libpoppler.
So you need to manually compile libpoppler 0.20 _and_ okular.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Kubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Kubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Kubuntu version. If you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once:

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
