Bug Description

This seems to have been happening since Thunderbird 15.0: Even though I have Lightning (1.7b3) and Provider for Google Calendar (0.13) add-ons installed, and the correct ICS address for my Google Calendar entered, I am unable to see the calendar.

This used to work just fine until recently...

I had the same problem, and found out that the trouble was in google provider.
I had google provider version 0.13 and manualy upgraded it to newer 0.16 version and it worked - google calendar is now showing in thuderbird and syncing.
Just for the record - be sure to put private xml address form google to the field location in thunderbird.
Hope this helps.

I had the same problem, and I discovered that this was because a locally-installed copy of the Google Provider plugin was installed in addition to the package "xul-ext-gdata-provider". The local version was version 0.13 while the Ubuntu package was at 0.16. However, the local version of a plugin is given priority by Thunderbird, so it was using version 0.13. The solution: click the "Remove" button for the Google Provider plugin and restart Thunderbird. You should now be using the version supplied by your package manager (0.16). You can tell which plugins are provided by the package manager, because they will not have a "Remove" option.

As people have been mentioning, this is most likely due to a locally installed Google Calendar provider in addition to having xul-ext-gdata-provider installed. The locally installed addon with take precedence, so if you remove that, you should be up to date.
