Bug Description

Elderly people can't increase/decrease volume easily because the top-right icons are too small.

Suggestion: increase the size of the top bar (and of the top-right icons) when selecting "Text size = BIG" in the "Universal access" settings.

You mean the icon is too small, or are you referring to the slider?

As I mentioned the other day in a design discussion, I think the panel (and everything) should be scalable according to the screen DPI. And we should have an option to configure/change the screen DPI value.

panel_height_inches = 0.25
panel_height_pixels =
    panel_height_inches * gdk_screen_get_resolution(screen)

And fonts should scale automatically if not already, when you:
    gdk_screen_set_resolution(screen, DPI)

[http://developer.gnome.org/gdk/stable/GdkScreen.html#gdk-screen-get-resolution]

summary: - Top-right icons (sound..) are too small for tactile use or elderly users
+ Panel height should be configurable

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. We have tried to recreate this on the latest release of Ubuntu, but cannot reproduce it. This bug is being marked as Invalid. If you believe the problem to still exist in the latest version of Ubuntu, please comment on why that is the case and change the bug status to NEW.

Go to "Settings" -> "Screen Display" and adjust the slider labelled "Scale for menu and title bars:". Both text and icons are scaled.
