Bug Description
For 12.10 Kubuntu needs a screen recording program. We would like the community to make more videos showcasing Kubuntu for distribution on Youtube, Vimeo, etc. however, without good command-line skills with FFMPeg, this is not possible. Here's why:
a) Only Qt/KDE application in the repositories is RecordItNow, which as of Kubuntu 12.04 I could not get to work
b) Only other option is RecordMyDesktop, which is a GTK app
c) Both of these, assuming one can get them to work, output video in .ogv format. This is a format that KDE's video editor, KDEnlive, can not even open!
This means that even a well-intentioned community member who wanted t omake a video screencast of something cool on their Kubuntu system has no inherit way to do so.
Proposed solution would be to package / test FDesktopRecorder, a highly-ranked KDE desktop recorder found on opendesktop.org: http://
There are packages for other distros, but no .deb files. I can not package, but as I need a tool for screencasts I would gladly test if someone could package. I would also be doing more Kubuntu videos :)
Other options / ideas welcome but I strongly feel this needs to be addressed ASAP.

Please if I may say this is ie Kubuntu 12.10 possibly the best out of the box desktop O.S. I have had the pleasure to use.
I also would like to post a video of the release to youtube, especially for new people to Linux, A very good desktop recorder would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for considering these requests. Thank you also for such a fantastic , embracing, classy and smooth distribution.
Best Wishes to Kubuntu Devs and Community.
