Kurt-

Thanks for the report. From the looks of it, nova is having problems import the webob.exc module in the postinst. This is strange, as python-webob is a dependency of python-nova, both of which are installed according the logs. I'm curious--apport is reporting this is a fresh installation and not an upgrade, but dpkg is finding existing nova configuration where its expecting to install new stuff. Is there a chance you've already installed nova via some other means (devstack?) and the systems python environment is a bit out of skew? If the system is still stuck on this installation, can you try to manually import the webob.exc module and test if there is an import error?
You can run:

$ python -c 'import webob.exc'

Thanks

Hi Adam,

yes, I had devstack installed. This is the output from your command:

$ python -c 'import webob.exc'
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<string>", line 1, in <module>
ImportError: No module named webob.exc

I purged python-webob (and everything else from nova), removed /etc/nova/ and then reinstalled nova-common. Now it works fine. Thanks for your help!
