scanner cannon lide 25 behaves strangely

Bug Description

Binary package hint: sane

when i start xsane, my scanner makes a noise. when i press the scan button while it is sounding it works fine but if i wait until it is silent the scanner is not activated and a black page is saved.
i got a cannon lide 25 (usb) and it worked fine with dapper.

I experience this, too. The scanning unit moves like it is scanning, but there's no light and no usable output. I'm running Feisty on i386 and I use a Canon LIDE 30.

I've the same problem using this scanner, The problem doesn't exists with edgy. Also using python bindings for sane throw and error while try to scan

Yes, also other scanner programs show the same.
Sometimes after switching off and on or changing the USB port the
scanner works.
It goes wrong when the scanner has finished the job: the light source
doesn't return to the start position and then the scanner is not found.
