Bug Description

If you click on package manager Ubuntu 12.10, over the last 4 days, it says that it is broken and though it tries to repair itself it doesn't. The catalog is corrupt in some way. Packages cannot be installed. Can it be repaired, please.

I update Ubuntu 12.10 abot about 04:00 GMT every day.

This is getting a bit bureaucratic.

There is no special text. All yo have to do is click on package manager at the left side of the screen and it will ask you to repair it before you can use it, and the repair does not work.

Sometime, possibly when going from Alpha 2 to Beta 1 of 12:10, the issue
must have been picked up for the package manager now works. I always work
with the tatest development edition, because I like to follow the leading
edge of a new offering, but I run the risk of this sort of issue - namely
something quite serious gets broken. So in future I shall always work with
the release version of the preceding version as a back up. I regard the
unstable development edition of the latest Ubuntu as safer to use than the
most venerable offerings of the Gaesware Empire. I can take the risk
becuase I use Ubuntu for my own private purposes and I can bear the risk of
some failure.
