Bug Description

Binary package hint: gproftpd

The /usr/share/applications/gproftpd.desktop file in the package gproftpd, version 8.2.6-1, has the Exec field as "gproftpd"

But to use gproftpd, you need root privileges, meaning of course that trying to access it from the menus gets a permission denied error.

Changing the Exec field to "gksu gproftpd" should fix it, at least it does here.
