Bug Description

Very similar to bug 548992, following post at bottom requesting separate submissions for new occurances.

"iwconfig wlan0 power off" fails to fix the problem.

Similar problem here: http://bugzilla.intellinuxwireless.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2305

In that post, suggested that the problem lies in supplicant/dhclient/dhcpcd

Please let me know if any other information or logs are required. I have a pretty substantial supplicant / nm syslog tail attached while I go through the whole shebang (with funny notes!).

Cheers all.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.5kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the other tags). This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Joseph,

Tested against 3.5.0-030500rc7 my wifi fails to connect to 802.1x at all--so if anything its a regression.

The kernel fails to probe for the network, so it's unlikely that this has anything to do with issues in NetworkManager. Could you please provide debug logs for wpasupplicant?

You can get those by running:

sudo python /usr/lib/NetworkManager/debug-helper.py --wpa debug

Before reproducing the connection attempt. Logs will be in /var/log/syslog; which you can then attach to this bug report.

Thanks!

My first attachment contains a wpasupplicant debug log created with "debug-helper.py --wpa msgdump" turned on. (-nm debug too)

If running it with debug will provide more useful information than msgdump let me know and I'll run it again.

Cheers.

Or - let me be more precise, this type of network.

Its an enterprise setup, at a university so i have no router information.

I have no CDROM drive on the laptop, so testing with a live cd will be
difficult, it their any other way to test against lucid.

If you could please ask your university IT department for the requested information it would be really great to have.
