Bug Description

12.04 AMD-64 LTS custom installation failed. Unable to install grub on /dev/mapper/isw_ccifjiiifa_RAID-0p5 RAID 0 /boot partition on the only hard disk on my HP envy 17 laptop. Similar to bug #997885 except on RAID 0 instead of RAID 1. Apparently Grub won't install on Raid 0 or Raid 1 hard disks. Showstopper. Please fix.

Perhaps there is a problem in ubuntu dmraid-activate?

More info: Space for the ubuntu partitions was created by using the Win7 disk manager to shrink an existing volume, then deleting the system recovery partition to free up a physical partition from which the ubunto partition manager could create the necessary logical parititions. I did not reformat the resulting free space using NTFS before running the UBUNTU 12.04 installation partition manager. Should I have?
