Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

I understand that the root hints file may not be completely up to date, but DNS is designed to autocorrect this as soon as bind starts, isn't it? How many root server entries are now incorrect?

Could you please help us understand the real world impact of this bug?

The only change was adding a new IPv6 address to root-server D. Importance is very low but it may be fixed when possible.

Thanks. With no pressing need for an update, I'm not sure that this will meet SRU criteria. The best route to have the hints file updated is to get it fixed upstream (if it isn't already) and it then will be picked up by Debian and, into the Ubuntu development release ready for the subsequent stable release.

IPv4 of d.root-servers.net changed on 3/1/2013.
Old IPv4 may discontinue in a month.
