Beagleboard xM, the microphone doesn't work at all

I don't know if it's related, however, according to https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/beagleboard/NrBDNW-rWD0/JR24XVqeol4J beagleboard xM (the version I am using) doesn't not support passive microphone but only powered microphone or line in. Maybe microphone is not detected for this issue.

Referring to comment https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1022578/comments/3 .. I tested beagleboard xM (and also pandaboard) using line in (with output taken from another system) and it does not work.

did you use a preamplified microphone?

I used a cable jack 3.5mm to jack 3.5mm mono connected to my pc. I don't know if it gives the same result..

This release of Ubuntu is no longer receiving maintenance updates. If this is still an issue on a maintained version of Ubuntu please let us know.
