Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

I followed the upgrade steps on https://wiki.kubuntu.org/KubuntuDistUpgrade, enabling the 'http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy-proposed main' repo.

The upgrade aborts at 53% with the following error

Could not install '/var/cache/apt/archives/samba+3,0,24-2ubuntu1_i386.deb'
The upgrade aborts now. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report.

subprocess new post-removal script returned error exit status 134

To avoid possible confusion, that should read samba_3,0,24-2ubuntu1_i386.deb instead of samba+3,0,24-2ubuntu1_i386.deb

Also, clicking the 'Report Bug' button in the error dialog doesn't do anything...

Here is what causes the error:

2007-04-02 18:30:06,420 ERROR got an error from dpkg for pkg: '/var/cache/apt/archives/samba_3.0.24-2ubuntu1_i386.deb': 'subprocess new post-removal script returned error exit status 134

Unfortunately the kde version of the upgrader does not support capturing the terminal output in a logfile.

Changed in update-manager:
status: Unconfirmed → Confirmed

After clicking the 'Close' button, I received another message stating that the repair action dpkg --configure -a would now be performed, however after clicking OK my system just locked up. I now can no longer boot into Kubuntu
