Gimp crashes at selection and closes X session

Each time I try to select a region (either rectangular or ellipsoidal), Gimp crashes at the first clic and closes X session.

Here is an extract of the .xsession-errors file :

This may be a bug with the nvidia driver.

I forgot to say that the nvidia driver is from the package nvidia-current 295.40-0ubuntu1, and gimp is from the package 2.6.12-1ubuntu1.

I can confirm these symptoms on a Thinkpad with an Intel GM965 graphics-chip. I therefore this seams to be independent from the graphic card.

Do you also get crashes if you use any other tool like the pencil or brush?

Can you check your XorgLog.txt or XorgLogOld.txt in /var/log/ and compare it to the one in the link?

Yes, Luke, you are right, it seems to be a duplicate of bug #1021517, sorry (here is attached my /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old).
