Crash with specific picture

I compiled cuneiform-linux 1.1.0 for Windows using MinGW as described in the readme.
It works fine, and I want it to process all my digital photos, so I'll be able to find photos by plain text that appears on some of them. However, this photo (which doesn't contain any text), causes cuneiform to crash.
The crash doesn't appear in English language, but in German.

It doesn't matter to me if the program "finds" some disjointed letters or exits with a return value indicating an error.
Even when it hangs I can give the process a time limit and destroy it afterwards by my program.
But it shouldn't crash like this and produce a dialog from the operating system.

On Windows Vista, I also get this description (German).
