Bug Description

after one of the latest updates my firefox and epiphany don't browse anymore, i always get "cannot contact server..." page but all other browers (konqueror, wine internet explore) browse correctly

i tried to remove my ~/.mozilla dir but no changes
i tried to download the firefox package from mozilla website but no changes
i tried to remove /etc/firefox but no changes

i think that it could be a problem outside the firefox package but i don't know where to look :-\

Try to change useragent in about:config, replace feisty by fesity.

the only entry in about:config with feisty in the value is a comment, i think it's not that useful but i try to change it as you suggested, you can see the change in the attachment, anyway... firefox still continue to not work :-\

Yes, that was the right field. There are indeed proxies/firewalls that
filter streams that contain IST in useragent. However if it didn't fix
for you you probably have a different bug.

You could try to change it to edgy ... as this worked for those with
such a firefox.

Anyway, do you have any extensions installed?

Try to disable them temporarily by starting ffox in safe-mode:

 # firefox -safe-mode

Thanks,

i had extensions but i erasad my home/.mozilla and /etc/firefox thus not extensions and other things were loaded

safe-mode did not have any effect

changing useragent to edgy did not have any effect

anyway i did not updated from edgy to feisty but i already had feisty (from herd4) but firefox stopped working about friday of the last week

So is /etc/firefox again in place or is it still gone?

it works now after the latest feisty updates, maybe it could be a libnss or something like that
