Bug Description
Binary package hint: human-theme
The human theme that comes with Ubuntu does a pretty good job of being usable and easy to work with everyday. The only problem I have with it is that the highlighting of selected text in gtk apps and icons in nautilus is too light and washed out. It is sometimes hard to tell what is selected, especially on LCD monitors if they are tilted just slightly one way or the other. I think saturating the color just a bit would go a long way to improve the situation. I made a custom human theme with the base[SELECTED] field changed to something more saturated (#FFC366 rather than #FFD799) and it helped a lot. Selecting things on the default desktop is particularly hard due to the fact that the Ubuntu default wallpaper is almost the same color as the nautilus selector.
After playing around with various colors I think I have found one (#FAD163) that looks very good while being similar to the old color, although it is more viewable (on any monitor) in my opinion. I have attached a screenshot demonstrating the difference.
I know computer aesthetics are very subjective, but I think it is a good idea to stay within a certain boundary as far as contrast is concerned. People who use computers often view these colors many hours a day, so getting them as easy on the eyes as possible is important.
Anyway, keep up the good work. The Human theme is one of the best on any distro in terms of usability and readability, while not being the typical blue-all- over-the- place sort of thing.
