Bug Description

I do not know how to reproduce this but frequently, not all of the time, when I click the Network icon in the top bar and hover over VPN Connections the two VPN entries are not visible. I can only see a small section of the submenu.

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 with the Nouveau driver and an Nvidia Quadro card on an HP EliteBook 8740w.

I've attached a screenshot.

The only way I've found to get the menu back is to reboot. Logging out and back in does not resolve this.

Same as Clayton Dillard described. However, it affects not just the VPN menu entries, but also the 'More networks' menu entries, which are not visible on hover over (only a section of the submenu can be seen. ).

I have also attached screenshots.

A workaround of this bug is to restart the network-manager applet, without logging out from the system.

For example from a terminal:
killall nm-applet
nm-applet &
disown %1
