Bug Description

Rhythmbox plays the first second or so of a song and then the audio stops. The slider continues as normal, but there is no audio either from my headphones or speakers. Changing to a different song does the same thing. I have picked a song from the Dash, but subsequently, I tried selecting one from RB, and the same thing happened.

This problem also occurs with Totem, Gloobus Preview and Clementine. Ergo, it is a problem with my sound and not RB. Is there any further information I can provide?

I rebooted, and this problem did not show up. However, I fear that "Have you tried switching it off and on again?" is a poor and very temporary solution to the problem since I've experienced it multiple times.

Same issue here with Rhythmbox under 12.04, however it doesn't happen for all tracks for me. It seems to be limited to music located on my Windows shared folder. Is this happening with music on the local drive for anyone here?

same issue for me. plays for 1 second then stop.

12.04/gnome

only happens on a NAS attached to my local router.

RB plays MP3's on the local machine just fine

I had the same problem in 12.10 and now in 13.04. I closed totem
I installed dconf-tools package, I opened the dconf-editor and pressed "Set to default" for every value under /org/gnome/Totem/ -- now totem doesn't stop after the 1st second.

The issue disappears if you switch off visualizations (it seems).

I hadn't had this issue with 12.10. I didn't notice until recently, that with 13.04 Totem stopped playing audio after 1 second.

Switching off visualizations solved it for me. Thanks, Jonathan!
