Bug Description

Since I replaced XFree with Xorg, I lost 3D acceleration:

julien@lifebook ~ $ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: No
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect

From lspci:

0000:00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corp. 82852/855GM Integrated
Graphics Device (rev 02)

Please not that 3D acceleration used to work with Xorg on Fedora Core on this
same laptop.

Where can this module be found? Has it been submitted upstream?

cvs -d :pserver:<email address hidden>:/cvs/dri co drm

Alternately, looking at a Red Hat bug report Google turned up, it appears that
the module has been merged into FC3, so it might be easier to pull it from
Fedora's patchset.

With linux-image-2.6.10-2-386, I lost 3D acceleration again although the i915
module seems to be there:

julien@lifebook ~ $ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: No
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
julien@lifebook ~ $ lsmod | grep i915
i915 72164 3
