Bug Description

When I enter this in the terminal window " sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade " ( no quotes of course ) It searches for the update packages but then returns the below message:

W: Failed to fetch http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise-backports/universe/i18n/Translation-en Something wicked happened resolving 'ca.archive.ubuntu.com:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I get a similar message when I use the GUI update manager as well.

I have no problem with my internet connection or my net work, as I am reporting this bug now.
Hopefully this problem can be resolved so I can update the security features and get other important system updates.

Not a bug in Unity. Moreover, this seems like a DNS problem with your connection, since I can connect to ca.archive.ubuntu.com just fine.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Changed in apt (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
affects: unity → apt (Ubuntu)
