Bug Description

i'm trying to install in lucid 10.04, and i get this error when trying to install clipgrab:

$ sudo apt-get install clipgrab
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  clipgrab: Depends: libavcodec-extra-52 (>= 4:0.5+svn20090706) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
$

if i try to install libavcodec-extra-52, it removes a bunch of things i use, like mplayer and vlc. also throws an error like:

dpkg: libavcodec52: dependency problems, but removing anyway as you requested:
 libquicktime1 depends on libavcodec52 (>= 4:0.5+svn20090706-3) | libavcodec-extra-52 (>= 4:0.5+svn20090706-3); however:
  Package libavcodec52 is to be removed.
  Package libavcodec-extra-52 is not installed.
Removing libavcodec52 ...

however, after this i'm able to install and use clipgrab. unfortunately, it wasn't able to download a video from vimeo, might file a bug report regarding that later.

Hello,
which lucid version do you use? 32bit or 64bit?

sorry yes it is 64-bit. i think there was something up with my packages though, because i was able to reinstall all of the things that were removed previously, like mplayer, vlc, audacious, etc. so this can probably be closed.

Closed as invalid because original reporter suggested it, and this issue refers to an old release of Clipgrab and an old release of Ubuntu.

Changed in clipgrab:
status: New → Invalid
