Bug Description

In my firefox (current quantal as of today '14.0~b9+build1-0ubuntu1'), if I load the page at
   http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/02/awk-conditional-statements/

my X almost immediately starts consuming all CPU, making it almost impossible to do anything. I was able to hit 'ctrl-alt-f1' and then log in and run 'top' to see X spinning.

Loading the same page later in the day (on accident), I let it run its course, and eventually firefox was killed via OOM, and the system generally returned to normal.

This alone probably isn't useful, but maybe it at least gives some hints.

I'm marking this fix released.
I narrowed it down to the 'pencil' exstension that I had installed (http://pencil.evolus.vn/en-US/Home.aspx). I had previously had 1.3.2 installed, but now have 1.3.4, which is current.

Upgrading that seemingly innocent fixed this massive memory leak.

Changed in firefox (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Fix Released
