I am also getting this error on Ubuntu 12.10 - it happens randomly. I am using the 64 bit version with all software updated.

Seems OK to fetch the data for my location in the UK, unlike the original poster of this bug.

This program dies randomly when running for Round Rock, TX. Was not looking at program is just stops.

I can confirm that. Ubuntu 12.04 64bit and 11.11.28-0ubuntu1.3 crashes everyday.
