Still needs improvement because the current one suffers from aliasing and doesn't conform with brand guidelines.

Also, is this really super important for beta1 or can we target to beta2?

If you mean the image is not anti-aliased, that is a limitation of the required file format.

Design team approved the syslinux theme before and after its activation.

It does not conform with the brand guidelines:

"The new elementary brand has two marks: the unique and
totally custom elementary logotype, and the simple and
distilled logomark. They should never be used in juxtaposition,
in much the same way you never see the Facebook logotype
and f logomark, or the Google logotype and g logomark
together."

I'm attaching a few mockups which can be turned into real themes in a few clicks (only by me). Disregard the "ubuntu" part for now.

Since that menu is designed primarily for power users and troubleshooting, I've added the version codename in the pic. It's often useful to see what version you have on the LiveCD/USB prior to booting.
