thumbnail generation hangs on directory creation

Steps to reproduce:
Create a new folder somewher, using nautilus with cover-thumbnailer enabled (right-click > create new folder)

What should happen? What happens instead?
The directory should be created, cover-thumbnailer should maybe scan it for image files, find none and simply display the plain folder icon. Instead, the directory is created, and it displays the "generating thumbnail" icon forever. Refreshing the veiw with F5 does not help.

Tested on Debian 7.0 Wheezy with cover-thumbnailer 0.9.3 and nautilus 3.4.2-1. This problem existed in previous versions too.
