On a clean Precise install where I have never had lo-menubar installed before the new lo-menubar version (0.1.1-0ubuntu0.1) works as expected.

I did aptitude purge, restart, and then install lo-menubar. Seems to work now.

I had that problem too, but after the latest LibreOffice upgrade I purged and reinstalled it, and it's working now. I'm using LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 from the ppa and the same version of lo-menubar as you.

I also can't get it to work. Re-installing doesn't help.

I did sudo aptitude purge lo-menubar, restart, and then install lo-menubar: it didn't work (Ubuntu 12.04, LibreOffice 3.5.5.2)
My temporary solution -- using Synaptic Package Manager:
1) Force Version... and downgrade to lo-menubar 0.1.0-0ubuntu4, and then
2) Lock Version

Your advice is conflicting with installed packages: requires lidbbusmenu-gtk3, libdbusmenu-glib3, tough I have installed gtk3 and glib4 versions.

Using LibreOffice 3.5.5.2 on Ubuntu 12.04 I had to purge lo-menu bar and reinstall. Happily that worked for me.

USE AT OWN RISK:

rm -Rf ~/.config/libreoffice/

The above seems to "fix" this, but ofcourse you'll loose your LibreOffice preferences this way.

#9 also worked for me ; happily I don't use LibreOffice much (just as an occasional document viewer, really) so I didn't lose a lot of configuration

I secondly did purge, reboot, re-install then reboot, and it did work. Thanks

Working fine here with latest LO 3.5.5 from ppa, no crashes here.

A reboot didn't do the trick for me either.
I didn't want to lose my whole LibreOffice configuration, but for me it was enough to delete the "extentions" folder of the LO config directory.
rm -Rf ~/.config/libreoffice/3/user/extensions

lo-menubar worked as expected after that.

Versions:
lo-menubar 0.1.0-0ubuntu4
libreoffice 3.5.2-2ubuntu1
The bug appeared after a libreoffice update, lo-menubar was updated from version 0.1.0-0ubuntu1 to 0.1.0-0ubuntu4.

"sudo apt-get purge lo-menubar"

"sudo apt-get install lo-menubar"

Worked for me. No reboot or login required.

@Sebastian Fleer: Thanks a lot!
#17 worked for me after I tried all other possibilities I could think of / listed here (other than throwing away my entire configuration)
And the previously installed extensions were not lost either :-)

From bug #1018846 I got the tip:
My solution was: do a complete remove of package lo-menubar via Synaptic, start Writer (so LO recognized this LO-extension isn't available anymore), quit writer, install package lo-menubar via synaptic again - voila you got back your global menu.
I just tried this and lo-menubar works again!

Ian Brock's solution (#20) for me worked well with apt-get, even though only purging and re-instaling (via apt-get, #18 etc.) didn't.
Thanks.

lo-menubar is now an empty, transitional package, as it's been deprecated for Quantal. 12.10's LibreOffice includes a patch that makes lo-menubar unnecessary.

The extension is not maintained anymore, since it was never made default in Ubuntu I don't think anyone will be working on a fix for 12.04

Maybe you could fix the patch in 12.10 because libreoffice-gtk doesnt work for the global menu - see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1064962
