What it says on the tin. We should pull an Amy Winehouse and switch the notify-osd background color Back to Black.

Apparently it's hardcoded in the source. So we *have* to patch if we don't want it. o.O

Might be hackable if we add in a desktop.unity.average-desktop-color dconf key and set it to #000000.

The desktop.unity.average-bg-color does not work for notifications, it only works for Dash an Launcher.
I suggest a patch that is to make the bubbles black with 80 or 85% opacity and be done with :)

Since, according to George above, the key does not affect notify-osd, I suggest the custom notify-osd shnatsel linked be added to the dailies. I played with it myself and poured over the webupd8 comments and found no complaints that would negatively affect our implementation. This will suffice as a nice band-aid until lp:pantheon-notify is mature.

That's the easiest of the 3 solutions I came up with: patch notify-osd to accept colors, rollback to a notify-osd before color was changed, or my preferred option, use someone else's custom notify-osd.
