Have ESC cancel an ongoing file selection

Bug Description
Currently one can start a file selection via the keyboard by using the arrow keys, but there seems to be no key that cancels one. The ESC key would be the most intuitive choice for this.
(The current situation is rather annoying when the open folder contains only another one, and somehow that child folder has been selected: Without the mouse, one eg. can't ordinarily paste into the open parent folder.)
