Bug Description

I was implementing the work around given at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/833841.

The fix was to remove nvidia-current, run updates and install nvidia-current again.

Instead of doing it from the command line, I did it in synaptic package manager. I installed the Nouveau firmware and removed nvidia-current. Libgl1-mesa-glx installed and was configured during that process and others dependent on it. Next I clicked the "Mark all upgrades" tab and applied. The first time, it failed because apt couldn't be downloaded. I tried again and apt and 24 other packages that had been held up over the last couple of days because of the
libgl1-mesa-glx alternative link+Ubuntu+“mesa” package+Bugs+Bug #833841 were updated.

Next, I installed nvidia-current 270.41.xx because it was the only nvidia-current in synaptic. Note, however, that I'm running Ultimate Edition Oz Unity 2 Onyx 64 and not merely Ubuntu 11.04, per se. With Onyx 64 is included (in Post Install Info) 275.09.07-0ubuntu4 (nvidia-current). It was during the installation of nvidia-current 270.41.xx that the problem occurred.

Included here is Onyx 64 Post Install Info:
 Oz Unity 2 – Onyx 64.
Incept Date: 1st August, 2011
Size: 2.2Gb
Architecture: 64 Bit

Created with the collaboration of the Ultimate Edition Oz Community.

Special thanks to the Unity Team: Blackwolf, Wind, mmesantos1, INX, Guru Linux riomhaire

For ATI users: Please use previous Linux Kernels (.38-10 or .38-11) which can be chosen from the 'Grub' menu at boot time. This is due to ATI not having support for 3.0 series Kernels at time of release.

For Nvidia users, please install:
1. nvidia-current_275.09.07-0ubuntu4_amd64.deb
2. module-init-tools_3.16-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb

Both files are contained in this folder for your convenience.

Known Issues:
Onyx 64 is a remix of Ubuntu 11.04. This is not a long term support release and as such, may have minor issues. Current known issues include:
Gimp – may not work correctly from Live mode. No issues once installed.
Firefox – May not work correctly from Live mode. No issues once installed.
ATI and Nvidia users may need to 'fix' Plymouth theme after installing drivers. The 'fix' can be found here: http://www.ultimateeditionoz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=171&t=1854
