Icons on desktop inconsistent.

When the icons on the desktop are placed automatically, or is selected to 'Organize Desktop by Name', the icons are arranged in an acceptable order, seperated fairly as shown here -http://oi45.tinypic.com/244we46.jpg.
But when the user manually arranges the icons, the slots (Can I call them that?) are included in places so that the text can overlap or the icon layout is inconsistent (http://oi46.tinypic.com/15xpklh.jpg). This looks ugly unless you right-click and 'Organize Desktop by Name'.

It would be better and more astetically pleasing if the icons were organized properly in consistent spaces.

The problem is not the letters or names is the icon
I have the same problem
when I arranged by name my desktop icon...it work!, but when I restart my computer it apeared un-arranged in down side screen.
