Bug Description

My system is running gnome-fallback, which is Gnome Classic with Compiz disabled (runs metacity), available from the package 'gnome-session-fallback' or 'gnome-panel'.

It is my understanding that GNOME has changed the behaviour of the screenshot utility upstream to save the file to ~/Pictures without any notification when PrintScreen or <alt>+PrintScreen is pressed. This is not my issue. There is no screenshot saved in this directory at all. No error reported when invoked from Terminal, it simply does not take a screenshot at all.

Please see attached debugging information generated from ubuntu-bug, and feel free to reply for further information. I've provided a summary here:

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Linux 3.2.0-24-generic

Same problem using Unity. I press PrtSc, see a flash and hear a shutter sound but no screenshot is saved in ~/Pictures. However if I take the screenshot with the terminal or using the gnome-screenhot GUI then a dialogue box does appear and I can choose the location to save the screenshot.

According to this bug report a fix has been released for the no dialogue box issue, but where is the fix? I see neither a dialogue box nor the screenshot. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screenshot/+bug/927952

Never mind. Turned out my problem was that I have installed shutter at one point, even after removing it the keybinding persists. Here is the solution in case anyone encounters the same problem. http://askubuntu.com/questions/30701/keyboard-shortcuts-not-working-after-removing-shutter/42435#42435

Now everything works. Don't know if OP is having the same problem.
