tests hang in pbuilder environment

i try to build the 0.0.5 package in a debian sid pbuiler environment. the tests hang at this point:

^^ at this point nothing more happens.

dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -rfakeroot works well.

seems to work with a pbuilder precise environment.

Building on Debian is currently not supported. This package depends on many Ubuntu-only modifications of DBus. If you're working on porting it to Debian, then you need to bring those patches over before the build works.

What are the critical patches? I found 9 patches [1]. Mostly that's stuff for upstart. Is this needed to solve the problem?

We don't actually have that many patches left that are relevant any more, see my pending 1.5 merge:

All the upstart patches have never been sent to upstream by Scott, and we don't actually use that functionality anywhere in Ubuntu, so I dropped them in the merge.
