Bug Description

This is a MIR for openjpeg

== Availability ==

openjpeg has been available in universe for a few releases.

== Rationale ==

openjpeg is optionally used by poppler to decode JPEG2000 images, in it's absence poppler uses its custom JPEG2000 decoder that is of lower quality, crashes more often and is basically unmaintained since poppler developers recommend using openjpeg and thus don't see much point in spending time improving poppler's own JPEG2000 decoder.

openjpeg is also much more maintained than poppler's own JPEG2000 decoder

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/poppler/poppler/log/poppler/JPXStream.cc

== Security ==

openjpeg has not had any "CVE"'s reported against it.
The crash reports I (as poppler maintainer) have reported against them have been fixed promptly.

== Quality assurance ==

openjpeg is a library and using it after installing is straight-forward.

== UI standards ==

N/A

== Dependencies ==

It's only dependency is libc6

== Standards compliance ==

Package seems to be well formed

== Maintenance ==

Package is maintained in debian

== Background information ==

openjpeg is an JPEG2000 decoder library
It's webpage can be found at http://www.openjpeg.org/
Latest release was on February 2012
