KDM doesn't allow login into Unity, Gnome3, Unity 2D...

Hi, I tried to use KDM as rescue step when lightdm stopped to work, but kdm allows me only log-into XFCE. When I try log into Ubuntu (Unity), Unity 2D, Gnome 3 shell, it just restarts itself (kdm).

Ok. Did your upgrade from Natty to Precise affect this at all? And why did LightDM stop working? Does being on Kubuntu seem to have anything to do with the issue?

Nono, I just upgrade packages in software updater (precise to precise :) ).
And after that it stopped to work, I do not know why LightDM stopped to work, it is strange, it just show me black screen and that's all.

I tried to reinstall it, reinstall unity greeter and it worked for once but next reboot it was the same situation, black screen.

KDM works and before I reinstalled LightDM allowed me to log-into Unity etc., but after reinstallation of LightDM, it doesn't. Quite strange, I do not think it is connected.

I use Ubuntu, I do not use Kubuntu, I removed kubuntu packages before that upgrade (and then intalled back kdm, okular and some particular programs like ubuntu-desktop for sure).

I believe something is royally broken in your setup that makes lightdm not work and the aformentioned session types (KDM going black and then back to login is usually an indication of session startup failing and then either terminating or crashing X to begin with ... e.g. a KWin bug in the Plasma session would cause similar behavior).

Please try to login and then fetch your ~/.xsession-errors file of that user (via a TTY or by loggin in via another user - do not login with the same user into another session or the errors file is overwritten!)
