Bug Description

I try to follow directions from http://packages.qa.dev.stgraber.org/qatracker/milestones/223/builds/16265/downloads to downgrade and uninstall packages from that PPA but I cant.

$ sudo ppa-purge ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/q-lts-backportUpdating packages lists
PPA to be removed: ubuntu-x-swat q-lts-backport
Warning: Could not find package list for PPA: ubuntu-x-swat q-lts-backport

Fran, are you able to manually remove the packages? Try running:
sudo apt-get remove --purge linux-image-generic-lts-quantal linux-headers-generic-lts-quantal linux-image-3.4.0-4-generic linux-headers-3.4.0-4-generic

Then check your software sources inside the ubuntu software center to see if the ppa is still enabled or not. It should let you manually remove it if it is still present.

Hi Nicholas,

yes, I have removed quantal's linux kernel by issuing the line you wrote.
But what about upgraded version of packages from that PPA (plymouth, xorg, console-setup, ...) ?

Fran, you could remove the ppa, then re-install the ppa and try running ppa-purge. Did you install all those extra pieces? You can also simply manually downgrade them all:

apt-cache showpkg console-setup

sudo aptitude install console-setup=SPECIFC-VERSION

If ppa-purge is failing for you, this is a bug with that piece of software; I've changed the 'affects package' in order to get those maintainers in here to help.

affects: ubuntu-qa-website → ppa-purge

Nicholas, I'll try to reinstall the PPA and its packages and remove it again.

PPA packages works well, but I have installed AMD propietary driver for my graphic card and those drivers don't work with Quantal kernel.

ppa-purge can only work when the ppa is enabled and active, according to the error message that is not the case.

Changed in ppa-purge:
status: New → Invalid
