cinnamon crashes when running nouveau and switching to dual-head configuration

Bug Description

Cinnamon seems to run quite a bit nicer with nouveau than with nvidia's binary drivers. :)

However, when I tried switching to my office setup (notebook screen + external display) I noticed that every time I switch to multiple screens cinnamon will crash.

Even when trying to restart cinnamon, it will crash again right away.

I'm running Release 13 (maya) Cinnamon 64-bit.

I am able to enable the external monitor alone, though.

Ok, here's more details:

I start up regularly with my notebook display turned on. I put the notebook into my docking station. I then use

disper -e -t right -d VGA-1,LVDS-1

to activate both monitors. This causes cinnamon to crash. I then try to restart cinnamon, it crashes again and produces the attached output.

I then switch to my external monitor using

disper -S

and restart cinnamon and it works again.

Please? :)

Hmm. Didn't get any feedback from the Mint guys - maybe this bug is better suited directly associated with the cinnamon package?

affects: linuxmint → cinnamon-desktop

could you put your xorg.conf file ?

I changed it to enable both screens, also disabled nvidia propietary drivers and now use noveau.
