Bug Description

This requires a dynamic number of workspaces.

When a window is made fullscreen, it should get it's own workspace. When un-fullscreened, it should go back to the workspace it was last on.

If this is implemented would the full screen app own that workspace exclusively or could I drop another smaller window to that workspace? I personally like to put a small text editor window for note taking or an IM window over larger windows, especially on smaller screens, would this be possible?

Implementation note: consider the aforementioned use case.

I would be one happy person if this were implemented :)

But wouldn't this again be copying Mac OSX? They do the exact thing with fullscreen apps. Maybe keep the top bar? I like the idea though

Nice feature, althought it would be better if this would be feasable on all applications (also ones without fullscreen support) and if multi-window apps like Gimp (palletes, colors, main area...) or Pidgin (users, chats...) would be "merged" on one single fullscreen window (maybe arranging them before going to fullscreen mode).

Should my propositions go to differents bug issues?

Piranna, we're aware of this idea and it's been drafted by our designers back at UDS-P. Consider it being on the radar.

tom95: I suppose the behavior of a fullscreened window workspace would be different than the behavior of a maximized one?

DanRabbit: hrm yea that's possible. For a true fullscreen we probably want to not allow adding more windows into that workspace (since there is no window decoration at all) where for a maximized window we probably still want to allow you to add more windows there (in which case we might want to tile ;-) )
