"Insert new object here" functionality

It would be nice to have a "insert new object here" functionality. For example
"insert the new Silva Document before object 8"

This could be achieved by selecting an object in the container's edit list and
selecting the object to be added afterwards. This doesn't need to be obvious in
the UI, the one who knows it (or the one who read the documentation) can use it,
others still can to reordering afterwards)

What happens if more than one object is selected needs to be discussed though.

Nice idea. Subtle features like this make users appreciate the interface. My
advice would be to make it work the same as the Move feature. If you select
position 6, the object appears in position 6. If multiple objects are selected,
take the first one.

Ok, this feature was implemented in the trunk. I've made a note of this in HISTORY.txt, but you'll need to determine how to communicate this power-user feature in the 2.1 release.

The way this is implemented should not break any existing code...if there is an additional query parameter present, 'position', then the newly created object is moved to that position. If this parameter isn't present, nothing is different.
