Bug Description

If you:
    apt-get install rpm
and then later
    apt-get install virtualbox-ose-dkms
the second install will leave a $HOME/.rpmdb directory

It appears to be a problem in dkms, as the problem evinces after installing bcmwl-kernel-source as well

I've attached a script & log file that shows the bug in a Ubuntu 12.04 Live CD session

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Release: 12.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center
apt-cache policy rpm virtualbox-ose-dkms
rpm:
  Installed: 4.9.1.1-1build1

  Version table:
 *** 4.9.1.1-1build1 0

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
virtualbox-ose-dkms:
  Installed: 4.1.12-dfsg-2
  Candidate: 4.1.12-dfsg-2
  Version table:
 *** 4.1.12-dfsg-2 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/universe i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) What you expected to happen
