Bug Description

I recent update to Slingshot (~1 week ago) has resulting in slingshot falling back to a flat visual style even though compositing is enabled (via compiz).

I'm currently running Ubuntu 12.04 (x86-64) with elementary's daily, testing and stable PPA enabled.

I experienced this yesterday after a gala crash. It returned to normal on reboot.

I'm actually using compiz (as my primary window manager) at the moment and the issue persists after both compiz --replace, gala --replace (i.e. under gala) and upon reboot. I don't think it's an issue with the compositor (not at my end at least) as compiz is able to apply transparency to slingshot (see screenshot).

P.S. I swear that there were other replies to this bug previously (including one specifically pointing out that transparency was applied to slingshot in the attached screenshot). Hmm...

Sorry if I have seen before the other bug report. Anyway, in bug 1015042 you can find an explanation of what causes this and how it'll be fixed.
