Catalog fields need reinvestigating

Since the fields for the catalog have bneen chosen a while ago, before the
metadata and some other large features were implemented, there are some fields
that don't need to be in there anymore. This needs to be reviewed and modified.

I'd like this investigation to take place sooner rather than later. We may
not be able to resolve it perfectly, but it should be examined now at
least.
