Bug Description
Mint version: 13 Maya Cinammon 64-bit
I am trying to add the university LPD/LPR Host as a printer but it does not appear as an option when I search for network printers. This works seamlessly on all Ubuntu Precise workstations in the department and so I assume it is a Mint related issue.

I think this is due to the default printer configuration being replaced in gnome 3. See this bug for ubuntu https:/ /bugs.launchpad .net/ubuntu/ +source/ system- config- printer/ +bug/874268. Run system- config- printer in a terminal to access the previous, fully functional configuration tool.
This is one of those typical "improvements" in gnome 3, replacing existing functionality by something that isn't quite ready yet and locks down most options. I think it would be nice, and quite in the spirit of Cinnamon, if it would make system- config- printer again available via the menus, as the new configuration is lacking various options.
