Bug Description

The normal print dialog doesn't show the correct status for printers instead it displays some random characters.

Firefox and Thunderbird show the correct status which in my case would be:

Printer 'Dell-5350dn-DKinvoice' has no toner left.
Printer 'Dell-5350dn-white' has no toner left.

The characters I see in the print dialogs for eog or gedit for example change with every mouse move. It doesn't matter which window has the focus, the characters constantly change when moving the mouse.

My setup is I have one pysical DELL 5350dn printer with 4 paper trays and to access them quickly I've installed 4 printers with the defaults sets to the individual trays.
However out of those 4 only two show those messages, the other two don't show any status at all. Also in Friefox the other two don't say that it is out of toner.

I've attached a screenshot of the dialog.

Not sure if this is related to this bug or if it is seperate bug. For the printers with this status the Firefox/ Thunderbird print dialog doesn't display any printer icon. It should be the printer with the yellow/orange triangle with the "!" in it.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1003461/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Marked GTK as affected, as the dialog on the screenshots is part of the GTK library.
