It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. Does it work if you use pavucontrol instead of the sound settings to select the correct input?

(I'm trying to figure out whether it's PulseAudio or the sound settings that actually crashes.)

It seems with pavucontrol you can select jack source as input device for some applications without problem, but it doesn't let it select Jack source as primary input device for all applications. So it means I have to pick Jack source with pavucontrol for every new program I launch. (there might be a way around this, but I haven't used pavucontrol that often so when I quickly tried it.. I couldn't find it)

So I'm not sure what crashes when I try to pick up Jack source from sound settings, but what I noticed is that pulseaudio itself doesn't seem to be affected. When the settings just close down while picking up Jack source, output and input in QJackCtl (pulseaudio sink and source) stays on all the time and pulseaudio itself still seems to work. And if settings are opened again, everything seems to be working. Except Jack source as input device.

I'm sorry about my long and hard explanations.

Ok, the problem is likely in the sound settings UI then, thanks!
