Bug Description
Upgrading from Ubuntu Server 11.10 to 12.04 LTS. The three screens previous to this error are attached to the bug report as screen1.png, screen2.png, screen3.png. Besides the error report itself for mysql, report.py also crashed in the process of generating the report.
screen1.png
There was an old file in that directory, but it was named my.cnf.cluster and is unused. Upgrade should not have failed.
screen2.png
I chose to report the problem, which led to the next screen
screen3.png
I chose to send the report, which resulted this ticket.

Hi Dave. can you also attach /var/log/mysql*, and if it exists, /var/log/ upstart/ mysql.log. Also can you try running this and pasting the output:
sudo /usr/sbin/mysqld
Thanks!
