Bug Description

I tried to install ghdl on Ubuntu 12.04.

$ sudo apt-get install ghdl
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package ghdl is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'ghdl' has no installation candidate

Expected: working ghdl
Got: nothing

Please provide a working ghdl package for Ubuntu 12.04. There is a PPA but I don't know if this will be maintained or if it's even trustworthy https://launchpad.net/~pgavin/+archive/ghdl

ghdl was removed from 12.04 as it failed to build and was unmaintained.

see bug 986096

if it should be readded to ubuntu someone has to setup up and take over maintenance. Preferably by bringing the package back into shape in debian.

Changed in ghdl (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
