Disable system beep

The enable system beep option is not set correctly under gnome load in Feisty.
It worked flawlessly in Edgy but now I must start "Sound Preferences" manager found in System->Preferences and activate the "Enable system beep" option and then deactivate it again.

The beep does not reappear on logout/login in gnome after applying the above procedure.

After reboot the beep is there again.

I can confirm this problem on last ubuntu Feisty.
None sounds works else login and logout.
Sounds sure works in test form.

Never heard system bell at all, (visual bell works).

Same problem here. After startup, the system beep beeps although the setting is disabled. Only after enabling and disabling it manually it's really disabled.

Same problem on my laptop. Running Unbuntu Feisty (7.04) on a Dell D620. The problem have just begun recently after an update... The system beep disappears after enabling and disabling it manually.

Thanks for your report, Can you reproduce the same on a Gutsy Gibbon installation?

Works fine now with Gutsy Gibbon.
